Andy Warhol died on February 22, 1987 (aged 58). Andy began his fame after exhibiting his work in several galleries in the late 1950s. His New York studio, The Factory, was an eclectic playground for what was considered subversive culture at the time which had been itching to get some legitimacy in pop culture.
He founded Interview magazine and is responsible for the famous quote "In the future everyone will have 15 minutes of fame."
